Maple Bacon Rolls

Prep Time: 2 hrs Cook Time: 35mins Bake Temp: 350 F


Ingredients:

4 Cups AP Flour (Unbleached)

1 1/2 Cups Sugar

1 cup brown sugar

4TBS ground cinnamon

2tsp salt

1 TBS baking powder

1 TBS baking soda

2 sticks melted butter

2 tsp vanilla extract

1 cup warm-hot water

1 active quick yeast packet



1/2 softened brick cream cheese

1 1/2 cup powder sugar

2 eggs

3 TBS maple syrup

4 cooked strips of bacon and broken into small pieces


Directions:

1) In a glass cup combine 1 TBS of the sugar, warm water and yeast. Mix well and set to side for 20 mins allowing the yeast to activate

2) In the mixer, combine 3 cups flour, sugar, baking powder/soda, salt and stir well

3) Slowly combine in water/yeast mixture, eggs

4) While it is mixing, slowly combine in the final cup of flour

5) Once dough is well mixed and stretchy, fold out onto floured surface and kneed for 10-15mins. Form into ball and place in greased bowl with plastic wrap tightly wrapped around the top of bowl. Allow to rise for 30 mins.



6) Kneed dough once more and return to the bowl for another 20mins

7) In a separate bowl, combine melted butter, cinnamon and brown sugar. Set to side for filling

8) Roll out dough into a semi rectangle shape that is roughly 1/4" thick

9) Coat Dough with brown sugar mixture and then tightly and evenly roll into a tube shape

10) Cut into equal rolls that are roughly 1/2" thick

11) Place into a cast iron skillet or glass bake dish and space closely together but not touching

12) Bake for 35mins

13) While rolls are baking, beat together powder sugar, cream cheese and maple syrup into a frosting

14) When rolls are golden and cooked through, remove from oven and top with the frosting while still hot and sprinkle bacon pieces on top.
